Expectations from Students Writing GCSE Papers
Writing a GCSE paper or an essay requires presence of mind and alertness more than anything else. GCSE papers and essays generally expect the writer to answer the question asked, as precisely as possible. Even though the GCSE paper essay may appear to be complicated, it will actually be very simple if you read it carefully and understand what it is actually asking.
When writing a GCSE paper, you need to write the essay in points with suitable facts and evidence answering the question which has been asked. GCSE paper essays are typically of three types:
- GCSE paper essays asking for a description.
- GCSE paper essays asking for an analysis.
- GCSE paper essays asking for a discussion
In GCSE paper essays which expect you to describe, you are simply required to briefly write down the facts as they occurred. You can provide brief explanations about what, when or how related to the facts.
In analysis type GCSE paper essays you are expected to explain the reasons for the occurrence of a fact, event or situation. In this case you will be required to answer the question in point form, giving suitable explanations for all the claims you have put forth in your GSCE paper essay.
You will be expected to substantiate all your arguments through appropriate claims and connect the entire GDSE paper essay using connectives, so that the GCSE paper does not seem like a confused bundle of ideas.
In GSCE paper essays which ask you to discuss, avoid stating your personal opinion and try to answer the question using “how” as the basic element.
In all of the above types GCSE paper essays, your judgment is crucial and should be written in the conclusion or summary of the paper.
