Writing a Book Report? Tips to get you going!
Writing quick book reports is certainly not easy – imagine having to write a quick book report on a book which is more than 100 pages and you have only an hour or two! The first thing you do is to write down all the important facts relating to the book to get you started.
These are facts like the name of the book, the author’s name and publishing details. Once this is done, you should begin drafting the outline of your quick book report. Students need to remember that book report outline will differ according to genre of the book – fictional or non-fictional. The following quick book report tips are for a fictional book.
- The first section of the outline will be the setting, which indicates the place where the story took place. This setting could be imaginary or real.
- The next section of the quick book report will state the period when the story took place. This could be sometime in the past present or even in the future.
- The next section of the quick book report is a list of important characters – primarily those characters around which the story revolves around. Only a brief description about the characters is sufficient and there is no need for details.
- The plot will be the following section of your quick book report in which you will need to be extremely concise and brief. You will have to be very careful and not include details since this is a quick book report and not a comprehensive one.
- The final section of your quick book report is the conclusion of the story in brief, without giving away important details like the climax and the ending.
