Apple Inc.’s Corporate Culture

Apple has become a legend in modern business, which has been able to change the world of digital technologies forever. In 40 years of existence, Apple has gone from an obscure project of two young entrepreneurs to the leading technology corporation in the world (Rasul, 2018). The company has achieved great success and is one of the most recognizable in the world, and its organizational culture is often regarded as a benchmark. The basis of the culture of the organization is engineering talent, high-quality work of designers, as well as respect for the employees of the enterprise. The company was founded in 1976, and over the years of its existence has undergone various changes that have made the company much more efficient and successful (Rasul, 2018). Although Apple is one of the most popular brands of digital technology, it had to undergo various cultural changes within the company to achieve its current efficiency.

Previously, the company was under the strict management of Steve Jobs, who was a challenging and demanding manager. His management system was based on pushing people out of their comfort zone, which allowed them to become more efficient. Nevertheless, this approach led to a rapid burnout of some employees, which reduced the efficiency and productivity results. After Tim Cook took over the management of the company, there were corrections in the culture of attitude towards employees and between team members (Sulumov & Tavbulatova, 2020). The company began to hire those people who are in love with products and those who strive to improve outcomes and make them as convenient as possible.

In addition, the opinion of the company’s management on balance between work and personal life has changed. Previously, the main goal of the company was the desire for regular work, minimal rest, and spending free time. Now the company places a strong emphasis on maintaining a balance between work and personal life. The company’s employees work hard but can spend their free time at their discretion (Sulumov & Tavbulatova, 2020). Full medical insurance generously organized holidays in the company, and the amiable atmosphere of the company makes working in it pleasant for people. Naturally, employees love their work and are ready to invest maximum efforts in the development and improvement of their products, but like any people, they need rest, which will have a significant impact on their future results.

Innovation has become one of the main reasons for changes in the company’s culture. Previously, employees had fewer opportunities to learn, develop and improve. Modern technologies have made it possible to obtain knowledge remotely, but at the same time, clearly demonstrate the use of various technologies (Sulumov & Tavbulatova, 2020). Sometimes the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills is the primary motivation for employees. Subsequently, an innovative approach to transforming the learning culture at Apple leads both to the professional growth of each employee, their effectiveness in the workplace, and their advancement in work.

At first, Apple aspired to everyday work like other companies, but over time it became clear that this was not the right way. Innovations and new technologies have also led to a rethinking of the company’s culture. The change was that employees should think outside the box and violate the possible framework of ideality. Apple does not produce products similar to competitors, but on the contrary, their product is innovative, as no one else has (Rasul, 2018). Professionals develop modern technologies and strive not only to meet the time but also to stay ahead of it. These changes concern not only the work on the software or technical equipment of gadgets but also the design of products (Sulumov & Tavbulatova, 2020). Therefore, many people choose Apple gadgets because they are attractive and recognizable, and no other company has created similar ones.

The first point of the hiring plan will be the search and selection of employees who have their own ideas and ideas about how to improve existing products. The next point is a strict selection of candidates, that is, those professionals who have a potentially working idea and imagine how to implement it go to the next stage. Next, employees undergo a questionnaire that will show how long they have been using the company’s products, how they see the future of the enterprise and how ready they are for active work and training, as well as self-development and improvement of the company’s products. Next, a group of ten of the most outstanding specialists is created who have shown the most significant results. Departments distribute them, and for six months, the heads of these departments monitor their progress. At the end of the term, the most successful candidates will remain for a permanent job. This plan must select the most successful employees who will benefit the company. In addition, the selection must be strict as the company needs to maintain its reputation at a high level.

In conclusion, Apple has been able to achieve significant successes over the many years of its existence, which are directly related to the change in the company’s culture. Managers could implement such changes that made both employees and their work effective and brought significant results. Apple continues to win in the market because the principle of its work is a constant technical breakthrough. An essential role in this was played by the personality of Steve Jobs, who in turn changed many regulations of working with people. The corporate culture created in the company allows it to provide a stable competitive advantage, maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiasm, loyalty, integrity, creativity, and trust between people.
