Reaction to the Mini Lecture about Coaching

Mini-lecture “Coaching” is a brief text that contains relevant information about the contemporary method of making people progress, called “Coaching.” In the paper, there is a comparison between the mentioned and other attitudes toward motivating people to do something, such as leading, managing, and controlling. Moreover, a discussion of the traditional leadership types’ weaknesses is provided, along with an explanation of what “Evocative coaching” and its part, “Design thinking” are. I am confident that the mini-lecture is the source of useful information that is easy to access and understand. I will support my reaction by discussing and responding to the several main points outlined in the text.

Discussion of the Main point of the Mini-Lecture

To begin with, the mini-lecture reveals the significant issues related to the well-known styles of leadership, such as authoritarian ones. According to Dr. Koslowski (n.d.), the mentioned type of leading the people is “often said to interfere with high performance, creativity and employee engagement significantly.” (para. 2). The emphasis on this point is vital as it outlines the major problem of the traditional leadership styles. Moreover, this evidence supports my point of view regarding the issue. In addition, the comparison of coaching with managing and controlling based on “adult learning” and the nature of the work within the “Evocative coaching” concept effectively assists the understanding of the difference between the styles (Dr. Koslowski, n.d.). On the other side, design thinking that is represented as a part of the coaching approach successfully emphasizes the efficiency of intuition and analysis combined together. It is shown that the contemporary attitude toward meeting a company’s and workers’ needs is more beneficial, considering the constraints of human systems. Therefore, mini-lecture enables a reader to consider the pros of coaching as a contemporary approach compared to the traditional ones.

Conclusion

I can conclude that the mini-lecture “Coaching” is an example of a brief but meaningful presentation of relevant information. It is possible to notice that all the points discussed are complemented each other and are vital for the topic. The text, in general, is significantly related to the problems with traditional but ineffective styles of leadership in the present-day world. Moreover, my perspective regarding the issue coincides with the outlined one, and I completely agree with the text’s provisions. Finally, it is simple to read and valuable for every member of contemporary society.
