Introduction
The Clean Power Company and the Energy Cooperative have statements of ethical concerns that affect them as stakeholders of their organizations. Recommendations should therefore be necessary at all times to guide the day-to-day activities of the shareholders so that their company remains viable in the business environment.
The Clean Power Company
Statement of ethical concerns
The ethical concerns for the company are to be gauged against the adherence of legal, philanthropic and economic ethics. The company has to understand the ethics, plan for the implementation of the ethics, organize all its activities in tandem with the ethics, and control and monitor its activities to work effectively and efficiently in line with the ethics. Economically, it is ethical to have appropriate prices of the stocks to enhance customer satisfaction and also make profits. Legally, ethics have to be adhered to in spearheading the development of the new site and also in the selection, recruitment, and placement of new employees so as to keep on operating effectively. Philanthropically, it is ethical to perform community work like construction of roads, installation of electrical cables, building schools, supplying schools and institutions with learning facilities, and providing other services freely or at cheaper prices to the community. This will enhance the respect of the company by the community.
Recommendations
The following recommendations are appropriate for the company with regard to the ethics:
Economic ethics
The Clean Power Company should ensure that it provides its goods and services at affordable costs to the community and standardize the prices of its goods and services to enhance customer satisfaction. The company should also consider the supply and demand curve to supply more power services when the demand is high. It should also consider the inflation rates so that it does not lend when the interest for lending is high.
Legal ethics
The Clean Power Company should ensure that it complies with rules and regulations governing its relocation and also as it recruits, places, and selects employees. The management should ensure that it legally acquires the site and has the right documentation for the site’s possession. It also needs to verify the employees to ensure that they are legally appropriate to work in the organization. It should also adhere to all the laws governing the Power Cooperative.
Philanthropic ethics
The Clean Power Company should enhance community service activities at all costs. It should participate in building roads, schools, and provide other services to the community. This is because the company will not operate in isolation but it is situated and functions in a community. It should work on prioritized community activities.
The Energy Cooperative
Statement of Ethical Concerns
The Energy Cooperative is concerned with ensuring that all power companies with the Clean Power Company included are operating effectively and providing quality services to the customers. About ethics, the cooperative should set and ensure the implementation of rules and regulations on legal, philanthropic and economic issues. The cooperative should monitor and control the functioning of power companies with the Clean Power Company included. The monitoring should be in the form of supervision to oversee the proper functioning of the companies under its jurisdiction.
Recommendations
The following recommendations may be beneficial to the cooperative. The recommendations are to be measured against the ethics postulated.
Economics
The Energy Cooperative should ensure that power companies with the Clean Power Company included have standardized prices for their goods and services by frequently checking the prices of their goods. It should also ensure that the company is running at a profit at all times by checking its financial records. Standardization and profit-making are important to any business because they enhance customer satisfaction and the viability of the organization in the business environment (Vendemiati, 2004).The quality assurance committee of the cooperative should frequently visit the company to inspect the quality of power services because the quality determines the economic viability. It also enhances customer satisfaction.
Legal
The Energy Cooperative should ensure that power companies are legally upright in their functioning with the Clean Power Company included. The cooperative should verify and ensure that the land where the company is situated is legally ratified, employees are employed legally, the company possesses the right documents for the land, the equipment and other facilities in the company are inspected, and workers are insured and their rights respected. The cooperative should also ensure that the energy companies with the Clean Power Company included adhering to the laws of the state (Fagothey, 2000).
Philanthropic
The Energy Cooperative should ensure that all power companies with the Clean Power Company included engage in community activities at various levels. The cooperative should plan, organize, and ensure that the companies are empowered, mobilized, and sensitized on the importance of participating in community activities (Derrida, 1995). Community participation enhances acceptance of the companies and also the Energy Cooperative in the community. When the power companies are accepted, their services will also be accepted.
Conclusion
The Energy Cooperative and the Clean Power Company should cooperate to enhance the production of quality power services and enhance the viability of the organizations in the business environment.
