Importance of Avoiding Traps on Workplace

Induction pertains to the process of confronting newly recruited employees into an organization. It is like a training and development activity for new employees to adapt to the working environment and the new roles. Induction is significant in employee recruitment since it is only when a new employee learns about the organization. It also helps the new employee create new friends in the company. Induction is an essential process to organizations, and the management should ensure that they offer their best induction process to their employees.

There are various induction traps that employees in a new organization can fall into. These traps include getting lost in the details, reluctance to use intuition, generalizing too far, the narrow base of observation, and a faulty base for generalizing. Many employees are usually faced with these induction traps as they transit from one organization to another due to changes in their job positions and roles.

Getting lost in the details is one of the induction traps which happens most in field-dependent people but less in area-independent people. People that get wrapped in the facts fail to see a broad picture of the message. Sometimes they feel exhausted by the information, which indicates that they are closer to the task. Thus they should give themselves a break and approach that will enable them to see the more incredible picture. The major problem in the world that can be attributed to this trap of induction is that many organizations focus only on the formalities set by the organization’s management. During induction, employees in most organizations are only trained according to how the administration has planned the induction process rather than focusing on how the new employee adapts to the institution quickly (Mchete & Shayo, 2020)

Worldwide, this problem can be avoided in the future by prioritizing the user experience. It means that organizations should be user-oriented and invest significantly in employee induction to avoid falling into these traps in the future. Awareness should also be made so that employees be aware of the pitfalls. The management in an organization should focus on meeting the concerns of their new employees, uniting them with other employees, and giving them the confidence they need.

In conclusion, the induction process of an organization can still be professional even without following the formalities. The most important thing during induction is to consider the service delivery to the employee. Employees can learn other rules and regulations of the company as time goes on. The top management of a company should put plans to ensure that their induction process suits and meets the needs of their newly recruited employees.
