Role of Human Resource Management in Healthcare Organizations

Human Resource Management (HRM) is vital in healthcare organizations since it helps to systematize the work of new and existing staff. This topic is investigated in the article titled “Role of human resource management in healthcare organizations: A review,” published by M. B. Pillai and O. Senthilraj in 2019. This paper aims to analyze this study to understand how nursing leadership development is influenced by human resource management.

The article provides an overview of the core competency-based HRM activities and their impact on the medical facility at all levels. The purpose of the paper is to establish a link between the HR team, improve staff performance, and boost patient health indicators. Considering the stated goal, the authors conclude that the primary tasks of human resource management include organization of the workforce, job analysis, reward allocation, appraisal of productivity, and some others (Hari, 2018; Pillai & Senthilraj, 2019). Several pieces of research have proven that the mentioned actions are beneficial for enhancing the quality of healthcare services (Pillai & Senthilraj, 2019). As a result, all the activities contribute to patient satisfaction.

What is more, the HRM team is responsible for maintaining employees’ mental health. It is indispensable since medical staff undergoes a lot of stress while treating patients. This argument sounds convincing because, in the case of a poor psychological state of the team, organizations witness mass layoffs, which leads to a decrease in productivity and quality of work. Unless effective strategies are used to enhance employee performance, there will be no progress. In addition, community-based programs may be used to provide supervision for workers with mental issues.

There is much factual comparative information about HRM’s activity in different countries, which proves the efficiency of their involvement. For example, the research carried out in Mozambique suggested that the Performance-Based Financing (PBF) initiative helped employees feel more encouraged and draw the attention of committees to participate in the reward programs (Pillai & Senthilraj, 2019). Another example was found in Nigeria, where the researchers established a direct connection between active HRM participation and health outcomes (Pillai & Senthilraj, 2019). Therefore, it is vital to address effective HRM strategies to reach the goals in terms of improving the nation’s well-being.

The study can be applied for further investigation of the HRM’s role in better health services provided as well as boosting client satisfaction. Additionally, the paper can be used as a practical guide for healthcare facilities that attempt to develop high-performance rates. Utterly, it is helpful in terms of conducting experiments since it provides a tremendous theoretical basis and can be implemented in related research.

It is beneficial that the article is propped by evidence from reputable sources. Each argument includes an example of a concrete scientific experiment. Moreover, it gives solutions for solving problems in the activity of HRs in a medical organization. Nevertheless, the authors did not provide any numerical data regarding the studies conducted. It would have been advantageous to compare the results in various countries’ healthcare centers.

In conclusion, the article is informative enough since it provides a detailed description of the core competencies of HRM in medical organizations. The study reveals how HR teams are accountable for maintaining their employees healthy, responsive, and motivated. In general, the paper is insightful and can be applied as a practical recommendation for a facility that wants to boost its performance and improve the quality of services.
