Sam Adams Beer Company’s Mission, Culture and Philosophy

Background

Samuel Adams’ trademark Boston Lager helped kickstart the craft beer movement in the United States back in 1984, and it remains a major independent American craft brewer to this day. Today’s Samuel Adams brewers retain their dedication to quality and creativity in the never-ending search for better beer (Coppin & Miree, 2016). Samuel Adams beers are enjoyed worldwide and at ther Boston and Cincinnati taprooms (Adams, 2020). They are known for their diverse array of varieties, including seasonal favorites and highly sought-after special releases. In addition to tasting incredible, this beer positively impacts the environment (Debies-Carl, 2018). Founder and brewer Jim Koch founded Brewing the American Dream in 2008 to provide food and beverage businesses, especially craft brewers, with much-needed access to funding, mentorship, and business assistance.

Mission

As a result, the company assists entrepreneurs in the food and beverage sector. This is to pursue their passion by offering tools to help them establish and build their companies, ranging from vital business advice to help them acquire access to funding (Coppin & Miree, 2016). The company assists hardworking food and beverage businesses in achieving success to do what they love while also providing for their families, creating local employment, and contributing to the growth of dynamic neighborhoods.

Culture

Employees are encouraged to participate in ongoing training and education within the company. For example, new workers may be given training in new employee orientation, respectful and effective communications, leading the Boston Beer Company way, selling skills and negotiation, and brand building. As part of their New Employee Orientation, employees also get beer and cider instruction. Then, after one year of service with the company, workers are invited to enroll in other beer and cider education courses, where they may learn to become recognized as industry specialists in their respective fields.

Philosophy

As part of its ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful work environment, the company encourages all workers at all levels to honestly “address the undiscussable” with other employees at any level, all the way up to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, without fear of reprisal or retaliation.

Pros of working for Samuel Adams Beer

  1. Competitive compensation for the job description.
  2. Adequate health insurance coverage.
  3. Union packing, brewing, electricity, and maintenance, as well as hourly work options
  4. The work atmosphere may be fast-paced and physically demanding in certain areas, but quality and safety are always a top concern.

Cons of working for Samuel Adams Beer

Among the most stressful aspects of working for the corporation are the 12-hour shifts, which are entirely mental and do not require physical exertion in any warehouse role.

Special Training and Management Programs

As a result, the company recognizes that hiring an outside executive officer may be expensive and risky in today’s business climate. Organizations are generally more successful – but not always – when they promote internal candidates (Adams, 2020). When it comes to C.E.O. succession planning, the Board of Directors is mainly accountable. However, the Board of Directors also talks about transitioning other executive officer roles (Adams, 2020). The company feels that its culture, salary structure, long-term equity program, and strong training and development program create incentives for outstanding executives to stay.
