The Uber Firm’s Performance Management Analysis

Introduction

Performance management is vital for the success of any business since it helps create a conducive environment for employees to perform and produce high-quality work. Through this tool, the managers of the Uber company can monitor and evaluate their employees’ daily operations. Therefore, Uber drivers must ensure customer satisfaction by responding to their customer transportation needs on time (Cornelissen & Cholakova, 2019). I would recommend using the objectives and key results methodology as a goal-setting framework that would assist in analyzing performance management. This strategy involves linking and aligning employee efforts with the company’s business goals. Moreover, tracking activities is simpler, and employees are fully committed and focused on meeting company objectives and goals. Using an effective performance management approach and technology would significantly improve Uber’s services and profits.

Performance Management at Uber

The results-based performance management approach would help evaluate and support the performance needed of new Uber employees. It is a straightforward concept through which the company can rate the drivers based on performance results. Key information and feedback acquired would assist managers in monitoring progress in addition to creating a positive effect and direction for future performance while notifying employees of what is required of them. This approach focuses not only on the financial and customer needs but also on employees’ learning, growth, and the enterprise’s internal operations (Owolabi & Adeosun, 2021). Having a non-union work environment, Uber can use this approach to follow up on individual employees, their motivation, skills, and daily progress resulting in its holistic growth.

I would recommend using Geotab technology to help Uber obtain additional rich information on aspects such as the software systems, fuel consumption rates, road conditions, heavy traffic locations, and service hours. Consecutively, much time is saved since drivers can avoid problematic areas, thus using shorter and safer routes to deliver their services. Using this electronic-based device, Uber drivers can be easily tracked throughout the day. Furthermore, this device is effective because the driver cannot turn it off, and tracking begins as soon as the vehicle is in motion. The telematics data collected can help solve problems that may occur in the future since the reports are flexible enough to suit specific requirements (Morales et al., 2021). Electronic tracking and monitoring will go a long way in ensuring that the drivers are committed to their tasks, thus improving performance. Storing records for future reference in electric form enables easy accessibility to important files compared to paper-based systems.

The company needs to use social management performance as part of the solution because this will ensure customers’ interests and needs are addressed in their entirety. Uber cannot operate effectively without understanding what its customers expect since they are the backbone of the company’s success. Managers can use social media platforms to explain their services and utilize consistent flexible messaging to make their services easily accessible. Additionally, first-time discounts and loyalty rewards to customers would help boost the business.

Conclusion

Conclusively, using the objectives and key results framework and the results-based performance management technique would help evaluate whether the earlier orientation and training of employees was effective in imparting the required skills and knowledge. In addition, the various problems that arise in operations can be noted and addressed in good time to enhance service delivery. The Geotab technology would help ensure that the Uber drivers manage their vehicles and customers in the best way possible, thus reducing costs and complaints.
