Management Information System

There are two ways to update the information in a specified database. Online processing is the system where information transactions into the computer system flow in real-time (Shiff, 2020). Alternatively, batch processing corresponds to the systems where the documents are uploaded to the computer in a batch (Shiff, 2020). The first type can be used in supermarkets, where the barcodes should be updated all the time. Similarly, batch processing is better for use in institutions where the employees should enter the data once in a period; for example, the currency information should be inserted once a day. As a result, the fields of usage of these two processings should be accounted for the frequency of information updating.

A decision support system is a useful tool for solving organizational questions in supply chain management. Implementing an analysis of a large amount of data through DSS managers can help obtain a holistic picture of the situation and apply the obtained results in the decision-making process (Yazdani et al., 2017, p. 381). The professionals can get the information by adding or deleting variables to understand the reason and consequences for particular problems. It should be noted that the decision is still the representatives’ responsibility as the DSS is only the instrument for considering the available data.

Office Automation System is a useful tool in business management. It helps to ease the work processes and make them more time-efficient, which, in the long-term perspective, increases the working performance of the team (Pathak, Wankhede, and Chandwani, 2018, p. 2446). To design it, professionals should consider, which of the tasks are the most time-consuming and monotonous, and then make it user-friendly, as otherwise, it would be inefficient. Moreover, the experience of world companies with COVID-19 pandemics shows that the company representatives are likely to use applications, which are compatible with their smartphone devices. In such a way, the Office Automation System to be created needs to address the most topical problem in the community and be as easy for users as possible.

Operational excellence is the concept, which attributes to success in productivity and efficiency, providing excellent outcomes for business strategy. Information systems assist in improving the communication guidelines with suppliers by identifying the needs of the business accurately (Laudon and Laudon, 2017, p. 38). Moreover, it also can bring communication between managers and workers onto a new level, where the understanding is reached in a smaller amount of time. For instance, the representatives can leave their messages on e-mail to their managers, and the latter can take time to review the questions and consciously address the problem. Generally, the use of innovational technologies increases the level of operational performance.

MIS design should be feasible as was mentioned in the answers to previous questions. Hence, the MIS developers need to identify the top priorities for the organization first. It is essential to understand the context of the company since it should cover all the sub-systems (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 61). The next strategy is implementing available technologies for making a user-friendly application. The cost and time for installing the utilizations are high. Therefore it needs to be worth all the efforts spent and provide satisfactory results (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 74). Lastly, MIS is crucial to evaluate the business evolution criteria to fit its long-term plans.

To move from the paper-based style of work to DBMS, the management structure needs to implement specific steps. First, the company’s paperwork should be revised, as there needs to be a structure and order to make it easier to transfer to computer systems (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 86). Second, the managers should find a secure file database that could locate the necessary documents fast and be reliable in the work (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 87). Third, the company representatives need to be trained to work with the database, so the new documentation is saved in the cloud system (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 89). The transition is a long-term process, but it is still practical and essential for increasing performance.

Cloud migration presents several risks, including the most important of them, the loss of essential information, and its leakage to competitive partners. To manage the mentioned dangers, the company leaders should check the compatibility of the system and business demands (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 48). Furthermore, the company can operate according to the “replication” based approach, which makes copies of the sources (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 54). At last, the IT workers of the business can use a multi-cloud strategy to avoid cloud gravity phenomena. There are some uncertainties in the Clouds available today, but also there are ways to prevent them.

Domino should have increased the trust of the franchisees in Pulse for its successful implementation. According to the technology acceptance model, the progress with which information systems can be employed directly relates to its perceived usefulness and ease of use (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 131). To increase the former’s level, the managers could provide the results of Pulse implementation in certain instances. The latter could be stimulated by a user-friendly interface together with a small guide or masterclass to show the tools and manuals of the MIS. Preparing the franchisees for the change, along with its introduction, is an efficient way to convince and manage resistance.

Pulse functional characteristics could be used to track the clients’ location and arrange the restaurant products’ delivery efficiently. In the age of pandemics and the implementation of quarantine measures, people need to dine out without going out. The Pulse system’s security should be enhanced to ensure the safety of the clients’ database and personal information (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 128). Moreover, the company should review its interface as well, as the clients are more inclined to use the service, which would be straightforward for usage. Generally, the idea of Pulse is profitable for the company, and reducing the number of mistakes and improving it according to the business needs can make it even stronger.

First, there are both threats of new entrants and substitutes in the industry, since some franchisees look forward to moving to services other than Pulse. Given the contemporary situation, some developers might also move to create information systems that are compatible with restaurant management. Next, customers’ bargaining power is still the least reason for concern, despite the critical situation in the economy. There could be some problems in suppliers’ bargaining power as transportation across the regions is somewhat restricted, although not essential. The industry is quite competitive, so as mentioned above, there should be sustainable development measures in the policy.

There are two types of security threats for information systems: physical and non-physical. The former consists of the dangers that could be posted on the servers physically, including vandalism and natural disasters (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 159). The latter is attributed to the attacks from the viruses, trojans, not to mention other common computer risks (Laudon and Ladon, 2017, p. 162). All of these intimidations could be prevented by installing security systems and updating them as soon as possible. Regular checking of the security level can be the incentive for the customers to use business products.
