Discussion of Diversity and Ethical Codes

Diversity is the practice of involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and genders. Inclusion is a company’s mission and technique to support a diverse workplace and leverage the effects of diversity to achieve a competitive business advantage. In a corporation, all the workers should understand different cultures, genders, and mindsets to increase the company’s productivity and create a good working environment for the workers despite differences. However, for Acme to embrace diversity and inclusion, the entire business should be equipped with an open mindset and a friendly environment. A good setting at the company encourages team-working and collaboration among workers. To integrate diversity into Acme Company, the employees should stop being biased and focus on the firms’ diversity code.

The company should ensure that all individuals are being treated equally. Bias starts with the name on the resume; if the company is not hiring a diverse team, it will be challenging to employ a diverse team. When appointing employees at Acme Company, the manager should ensure that equality is exercised and everybody at the company has an equal opportunity and is not discriminated against by other members. Moreover, leaders need to establish clear, written organizational commitments and ensure that the commitments are shared internally and externally. Diversity at the organization helps enhance culture and financial performance. Hence, developing an authentic commitment will increase the ability to attract diverse candidates.

As an Acme Company team member, creating an environment in which all team members can contribute and fully develop their talent is the responsibility of the leaders. Therefore, to build an excellent working atmosphere, mutual respect among employees should be initiated. Workplace diversity fosters discipline and respect among employees despite their differences. Whether employees work in groups or teams comprised of varied work styles, disabilities, or different cultures and generations, a good work environment ensures that individuals can work together.

Economic empowerment of marginalized workers is another way of creating a productive environment in the company. Employees have been disregarded due to racism, ageism, and discrimination, which have severe economic consequences. A diverse workplace environment offers more exposure to employees from different cultures and backgrounds (Fulp, 2018). In this case, employees learn from co-workers since people have different working styles and skills. Thus, Acme diversity creates an ideal atmosphere for individuals to learn from others.

To create an environment that contributes and develops full use of the talent, team members should celebrate employee’s differences. Diversity in teams leads to better decision making, more incredible innovation, and ultimately higher returns in the company. The team leaders should appropriately connect with employees and guide them in different projects. The company should establish meeting norms that allow everyone to participate freely and consider creating guidelines for all to use and follow. Team members should recognize their privileges and listen to those who have different perspectives and challenges to ensure an environment where all members can use their talents to reach individual and organizational goals.

According to the company’s diversity code, a team member should keep an open mind to new ideas and listen to different points of view. This is done by fighting the impulse to react to anger when someone has a different opinion, asking questions, and practicing good listening skills. The team members should change limits and take a lesson from anyone and never stop learning.

The limitations of the company’s diversity code are that colleagues from some cultures may be less likely to let their voices be heard. It can also be challenging for some workers when interacting with others and trying to present their ideas. Another limitation is that integration across multicultural teams can lead to some challenges due to issues such as stereotyping. Also, Communication challenges can be experienced since some individuals from different cultures can misinterpret the message being conveyed. Moreover, some information can be lost during translation among multicultural colleagues. Thus, there are some limitations of the company’s diversity code that one can analyze.

Ethical codes can also be culturally sensitive or not. Therefore, people are encouraged to analyze such issues when implementing diversity codes. In this case, one can argue that there is evidence that the code is not culturally sensitive since it encourages all people to be involved in various activities. Additionally, the code focuses on creating an environment in which all team members can contribute, develop, and fully use their talents. Thus, this shows that workers from different cultures are appreciated irrespective of their differences.

Colleagues from different cultures can also bring different workplace attitudes, behaviors, and etiquettes, causing misunderstanding and ill feelings between team members. Cultural encapsulation is the lack of understanding, ignorance, another’s cultural background, and its influence. Thus, its purpose is to allow people to protect themselves from rapid global changes. Cultural bias is the interpretation of situations, actions, or data based on standards of one’s culture. Additionally, cultural sensitivity understands racial, social, and cultural differences without any judgment. Thus, the diversity code is not culturally sensitive because it involves reducing communication barriers when coordinating international employees in the company.

Cultural sensitivity is the act of understanding cultural differences and similarities between people without assigning them a value, positive or negative. It allows for effective functioning between different cultures and helps workers appreciate other values and decrease cultural barriers. Moreover, it helps in improving the relationship between customers and employees as it encourages interaction. Cultural sensitivity in a company enables workers to appreciate the cultural differences among the workers in the company. Thus, the company’s diversity code has a significant role as it helps individuals focus on different principles and work more effectively.

Ethical professional practices are designed to provide everyone involved in the employment process with a fair and equitable recruitment process. It also supports informed and responsible decision-making by employees (Aydin & Ă–zeren, 2018). An ethical professional committee is used to provide leadership in ethics-related issues and debates. Ethical professional practices are encouraged since they focus on equality and acting without bias. For instance, when managers make employment decisions and define employment, they should not be biased.

Ethical professional practices encourage the provision of services and opportunities without discriminating based on race, gender, and origin. Moreover, these practices protect the confidentiality of all the personal information related to employees and their interviews during the sourcing process (Zaki et al., 2019). Therefore, the findings from the sources reveal that having excellent ethical codes is vital as it also ensures that appropriate, responsible, and transparent behaviors are practiced in organizations. Moreover, the sources show that leaders and managers can use the ethical codes to promote teamwork and ensure that business objectives are met.

Therefore, organizations should encourage diversity in workplaces to ensure that all individuals can work in a particular company. Talents can also be nurtured by focusing on inclusion since employees can help one another during teamwork. Leaders and managers have also been encouraged to ensure that all individuals are respected and cultural differences are valued. Factors such as religion, race, and gender should not be used to discriminate against workers. Ethical codes have also been of great significance in many organizations. Thus, companies should guarantee that they develop principles that can ensure that an excellent working environment for all individuals is achieved. In essence, diversity and ethical codes should be encouraged in businesses.
